Random natter about my love for city-building games:
I totally adore Immortal Cities: Children of the Nile. Why? Ancient Egypt ok? And I love how detailed it is and how much you can learn. For 6 bucks spent way back when, I’ve had years and years of fun! And its different every time you play, even if you choose the same scenario – the outcome depends on the choices you make.
I love to put things together. I love to create. Like when I used to choreograph – well I still do; in my head when listening to music – and when I write and do other creative things. Photography, painting, digital art, playing my classical recorder, singing to name a few of the things that make me happy.
The other thing I find interesting about CotN, is the one big lesson you take away from it: Everything works together. If you take care of each individual’s needs, the whole can work, and your city flourishes. How cool izzat?

This is for My Brothers. Kenoo (who’s in East Africa now I think!), Doover and Bearski. Rember when we used to try to cuss each other out with our new-found Swahili Skillz?? lool Kichwa maji! Kichwa ngombe! Kichwa tembo! Mimi nakupiga wewe! Everything was kichwa somethin lmao!! We waz crazeee right?
Mimi nataka maziwa tafadali. ok not reely cuz I still don’t drink milk, but I’m trying to bust out my skillz for Ma and Da ;) They used to revert to swahili when they wanted to say something in front of us kids they didn’t want us to know what they were talking about. We’d TRY to translate it as best we could lol I do remember! (Trippy: when I think of the word “maziwa” I ALWAYS see those cool little pyramid shaped milk cartons from Kenya.)

Its funny how things stick in your brain. (which is a good thing for me considering how much memory loss I have goin on these days). For example. If you turned on The Gondoliers by Gilbert and Sullivan, I’d be able to sing every word. Ditto for Amahl and the Night Visitors. Ditto for old skool Jackson 5 and Nina Simone.
How interesting life is!

Hey, Jo. You remember more Swahili than I thought you ever knew! Ken IS in Dar es Salaam with his family. He has an interesting blog site, which I will email to you. Right now I’m in Nairobi. I’ll be in Kenya for the next two weeks. Love, Dad
Hey Da! I was wondering who it was generating that hit from Kenya :) I thought it might have been Ken et al on the way thru to Tanzania. I’d forgotten that you were heading to the Big Af too! Be safe and bring me back a cool kanga or a scarf or something? :D
