I am a 41 year old Black woman living in the Southwest of the United States of America.

I have had a very diverse upbringing, and it has only been now, when I am at a significant crossroads in my life, that I have found part of what I think will be my Life’s Work.
I grew up learning about non-violence, about tolerance about peace. I saw my parents do what they could in their personal lives to fight for those things. That a very powerful thing to see, and I know that they have never stopped working for their beliefs.
I chose the picture for this post because it is a favorite of my Mothers. A small way of saying thank you for showing me the possibilities. And as as a reminder: why walk when you can dance? Take that metaphorically, allegorically or literally or how ever you want to ;)
My life has been a journey of ups and downs, and finally I feel that I am able to stand on my own two feet and follow what my heart has telling me since I was a child.
I cannot quite articulate what that is right now, and this blog is the first steps along this new path. I hope that like minded individuals will link up with me, and take some of the ideas I will be processing to heart.
I leave you with this prayer, because I think that it sums up the core of my New Beginning:
As I Walk with Beauty
-Traditional Navajo Prayer
As I walk, As I walk
The universe is walking with me
In beauty it walks before me
In beauty it walks behind me
In beauty it walks below me
In beauty it walks above me
Beauty is on every side
As I walk, I walk in Beauty.

Hello UEPA (?),
I am a thirtysomething Black Man living in Baltimore, and I just did a google search for Earthseed Book of the Living because I could not locate the copy I had saved on my computer. Thank you so much for posting this in its entirety. I think Ms. Butler’s words in the Parable books have already proven to be prophetic, and I often find myself thinking about their meaning and how I can apply them in my life. I think Earthseed is as applicable for Inner Space as it is for Outer Space. I wish you well on your journey and I hope you complete your journey.
Jason
Thank you Jason!
Sometimes I feel a little odd about how deeply those Earthseed verses ring inside my soul.
I’m glad to know that they ring as deeply for you and others too.
From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for your well wishes on my Journey: and I wish you well on Yours also :)

Ms Butler’s prophecy speaks to all of us who listen. Thank you for compiling these verses. I will print them and add them to my other teachings
